2017   Milt Rudy

On June 9, 2017 the Oxford Educational Foundation presented the Randy Sebastian Volunteer Person of the year award at the annual breakfast hosted by the Oxford Area Education Association and the O.E.F. This award is given annually to an O.E.F. volunteer who has given outstanding service to the school district. The 2017 R.S.V.P. recipient was Milt Rudy.

Milt began mentoring a student in Penn's Grove. Milt continued mentoring that student during the last school year, and after a time, included a second student in the mentoring sessions. Then the mentoring expanded to tutoring for math as well as mentoring. Milt also spent many hours organizing and presenting a breakdown of the volunteer time of all the volunteers; with a spreadsheet and graphics to show in which school, and what type of volunteering was done during the last school year.

Milt's flexibility and interest in the students make him a great mentor, and the right recipient for this year's R.S.V.P. award.

2016   Ali Verbanas

On June 10, 2016 the Oxford Educational Foundation presented the Randy Sebastian Volunteer Person of the year award at the annual breakfast hosted by the Oxford Area Education Association and the O.E.F. This award is given annually to an O.E.F. volunteer who has given outstanding service to the school district. The 2016 R.S.V.P. recipient was Ali Verbanas.

Ali began volunteering at Elk Ridge when her daughter Zoe entered first grade. Zoe is now in 4th grade at Nottingham and her brother Chase is in 1st grade at Elk Ridge. Ali volunteered in both buildings this year. At Elk Ridge she has assisted with the Mobile Ag Lab for many years. She has even substituted for other volunteers if they need to cancel at the last minute. She also copied all of the necessary paperwork for the entire first grade for their annual field trip to the Philadelphia zoo. Ali serves as hostess for the first grade Farm Fest day, giving any needed assistance to the presenters and keeping things running on schedule throughout the day.

Lastly, she serves as hostess for Ag Day with K.J. K.J. is an agricultural folk singer who comes to Elk Ridge each year and performs for the entire first and second grade classes. The classes are on a schedule to see K.J. perform and Ali helps everyone stay on schedule, assists K.J. with anything she needs, and any sponsors of the event who attend are well taken care of. When Zoe was in first grade she wrote a song about K.J. and every year Ali has Zoe come back to Elk Ridge so that she can sing the song over the loud speaker as a grand opening for the day.

Ali's energy and enthusiasm for supporting the Oxford Area School District make her the perfect recipient for the 2016 R.S.V.P. award!

2015   Linda Lutz

Linda Lutz is the 2015 recipient of the Randy Sebastian Volunteer Person of the Year Award.  A graduate of OAHS, Mrs. Lutz is a former high school math teacher and later a business and computer teacher at Harrisburg Community College.  She received this honor as gratitude for her work in the elementary buildings and Penn’s Grove Middle School as a volunteer and tutor.  In the elementary buildings, Mrs. Lutz is known for her extensive planning of cross-curricular lessons that mix fun with learning.  In the middle school, she is an algebra tutor. Thanks to giving generously of her time and talents, her enthusiasm for learning, her patience, and her creativity in designing lessons, Linda Lutz is very deserving of the RSVP award.
