A Word

From Our Executive Director

We welcome you to the Oxford Educational Foundation. The Oxford Educational Foundation was established in 1994 based on the belief that all members of this community can have a role in, as stated in the Foundation’s mission “enhancing the quality of education in the Oxford Area School District and contributing to the success of Oxford students” as volunteers.

Executive Director

Dr. Raymond Fischer

Dr. Raymond Fischer

Executive Director

As a founding member of the OEF over 25 years ago, Dr. Raymond Fischer closed the circle of support for the Foundation when he became its Executive Director in 2013.  Many community people fondly remember their interactions with him in his role as their building Principal or the OASD Superintendent.  Ray continues his love of education as he directs the day to day functioning of the OEF.

Dr. Fischer received his BS and MS from Millersville, his Masters in Administration from Temple University, and his Doctorate in Education from Immaculata University.  His 37-year career in education culminated as Superintendent at OASD.  Even in retirement Ray continues to teach as an adjunct professor in Educational Leadership and to serve as a committee member for doctoral dissertations.

Ray brings the same warmth and friendly encouragement to his work with volunteers as he did with students and teachers.  His participation with many other community organizations such as Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce is an extension of his belief that it takes the whole community to support and educate our children.

Kimberly Lewin

Volunteer Coordinator

Kimberly is the part-time Library Media Specialist at Jordan Bank. She brings to the Volunteer Coordinator position over 20 years of teaching experience. Kim’s first hand knowledge of the workings of the school district, the programs in place, the needs of the students, and the relationships she has built with many building personnel and community members have made her quite complementary to the existing, hardworking, OEF board.

Volunteer With Us

You Make the Difference

One of the stated goals of the OEF is to enlist volunteers to help the students and staff. Volunteers make a valuable and unique contribution to the schools by:

  • Providing students with role models that promote personal and intellectual growth
  • Creating a sense of common participation in the success of our schools
  • Promoting communication between students, volunteers and schools
  • Demonstrating the importance of community service to all touched by the program
  • Participating in a Volunteer Training Program to maximize effectiveness
  • Maintaining records of their volunteer time to support program assessment
  • To enhance school and district goals
  • To promote positive school/community relationships

The Oxford Educational Foundation employs a part-time coordinator for the volunteer program. The coordinator makes all volunteer assignments and organizes and oversees the day-to-day operation of the volunteer/mentor program which includes volunteer orientation and training. Administrators, teachers, or staff may also participate in this training.

As you volunteer your time, in whatever capacity, you make a difference in the students’ academic and social success. We thank you in advance for getting involved as we work jointly to give Oxford Area school students the best quality education possible!

We also welcome any financial support offered through donations and contributions to the OEF to assist in carrying through its mission.
